Fifteen members of the local group, Defending Democracy Indivisibles, hold letters spelling out their message of the day, “Musk Stole Your Data.”
On Feb. 10, 2025, fifteen members of the locally led group Defending Democracy Indivisibles gathered on the paved trail bridge of the Washington & Old Dominion (W&OD) Railroad Regional Park over the Fairfax County Parkway in Reston. They held up seventeen tall letters facing home-bound traffic. The letters spelled: "Musk Stole Your Data."
“The message was well received by people honking their horns as they made their way home during Monday’s rush hour on the Fairfax County Parkway,” said a group member who participated.
Elon Musk and other members of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) have had access to Department of the Treasury data and computer systems. The federal payment system disburses trillions in payments each year and contains unfathomable confidential data on virtually every American including on Social Security retirement and disability payments, federal tax refunds, veterans' benefits, and salaries and wages for federal workers.
Defending Democracy Indivisibles is a Reston group. They will next appear at their monthly demonstration at the National Rifle Association of America on Friday, Feb. 14, Valentine’s Day, to commemorate the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in Newtown, Connecticut, on Dec. 14, 2012 and press for gun safety.
