Senior Services of Alexandria Announces 2025 Gala Honorees

Senior Services of Alexandria’s 2025 Annual Gala takes place on Saturday, March 29 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Westin Alexandria Old Town, and we are proud to announce this year’s honorees. They are four individuals who have made a commitment to giving back to the community and making Alexandria a caring community for all. SSA thanks Benchmark at Alexandria for its generosity as the Gala’s Presenting Sponsor. 

The honorees are Jack Fannon; Jane King; Colonel (Ret.) Jim Paige and Lucelle O’Flaherty.

Jack Fannon

Jack Fannon is a fifth-generation Alexandrian and Chief Operating Officer of Thomas J Fannon & Sons, the family HVAC company. Jack started his career at First Virginia Bank. He and his wife Kelly raised their four children in the Fort Hunt area where Jack became involved in youth sports, coaching, and officiating. Following the passing of his parents, Jack returned to the city limits of Alexandria where he now resides in his childhood home. Inspired by his father’s life of community service, Jack served on the board and president of Senior Services of Alexandria for six years and is a member of Alexandria Rotary and will assume the presidency in July of 2025.

Jane King

Jane King has resided in Alexandria for over 40 years. Having worked at AARP when it introduced its program supporting the capacity of communities to become age friendly, she encouraged its development of a plan as a member of the Commission on Aging following retirement. Alexandria became the first community in Virginia to be accepted into AARP’s Network of Age Friendly Communities. For more than 13 years, Jane has been an active AARP volunteer and is a board member for At Home in Alexandria (AHA). She is an Alexandrian “Living Legend.”


Colonel Jim Paige (Retired)

Jim Paige is a retired Army Colonel and an accomplished leader with a distinguished career spanning nearly three decades in international affairs, strategic communication, and senior-level operations. His unwavering commitment to social justice and equity has earned him recognition as a highly respected advocate for underserved communities. Jim serves as the Executive Director of the Concerned Citizens Network of Alexandria (CCNA) where he addresses disparities in education, health and social justice. He is an Alexandrian “Living Legend,” his leadership continues to drive positive change throughout Alexandria.


Lucelle O’Flaherty

Lucelle O’Flaherty is part of a three-generation Alexandrian family, with a powerful track record for making a difference in the community and the world. Since retiring she has become the Community liaison, photographer, and reporter and Facebook Editor for The Zebra Press, a monthly publication that exclusively focuses on good news. Lucelle volunteers for Meals on Wheels with her Zebra colleagues and is an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a founding Board Member/Secretary of the National Center of Women’s Innovations and is currently on their Honorary Advisory Board. 


SSA’s Gala will be a festive evening with a silent auction, dinner and dancing celebrating SSA’s 57 years of providing programs and services for older adults to live independently and with dignity.
