Outgoing MCA President Honored

Rob Jackson named Lord of Fairfax for Dranesvile District.

Rob Jackson, who served the most terms as president in the history of the McLean Citizens Association, was honored by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors as Lord of Fairfax for the Dranesville District. Jackson, the outgoing president, became involved in community affairs after a random encounter years ago.

The 428 members of the McLean High School Class of 2012 gathered for the final time at DAR Constitution Hall Thursday, June 14 for the school’s annual commencement ceremony. The students donned their red caps and gowns to celebrate the end of their time at McLean High and to celebrate their future.

Greenspring Honors Student Scholars

Local students who worked at Greenspring are candidates for $6,000 in scholarships toward higher education.

Since 1999, Greenspring Retirement Community has awarded scholarships to local high school students who have worked in various dining services capacities at the retirement community. In addition to receiving a wage, students may be eligible for scholarships paid directly to the college or professional school of each student’s choice.

Letter: Many Behind Fundraiser’s Success

On May 19, Chantilly National Golf and Country Club hosted their Annual Cancer Fundraiser which was organized by members of the Social Tennis Committee along with many other wonderful volunteers. This year we were able to raise over $3,000 to donate to the American Cancer Society with the help of many local businesses and individuals who contributed gift baskets, gift cards or items for our Silent Auction and Raffle.

McLean High took home five awards – including the one for Best Play – at Sunday night’s 13th annual Cappie Awards at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. McLean’s other victories were for Lead Actor and Lead Actress in a Play for its production of "A View from the Bridge," as well as Returning Critic and Critic Team.
