I hope that Americans will take a moment from whatever they are doing this Memorial Day to remember our fallen troops.
A Candidate With No Baggage
To the Editor: Tom Rust has enthusiastically endorsed the entire Rupublican slate. He has done so because he is a Republican. It doesn't surprise me that he endorsed Cuccinelli, but I find it very difficult to accept that, in his heart, he could endorse the candidate for lieutenant governor, Rev. Jackson. Jackson's comments about gays and those who aren't strong Christians and other comments he has made, are of the kind that Rust would not, normally, accept.

Reston Masters Swim Team hosts 24th annual lake swim.
For 24 years, the Reston Masters Swim Team has hosted a lake swim Memorial Day weekend, 22 of them taking place at Lake Audubon. The event is one of the only times each year that swimming is allowed in the lake. Shirley Loftus-Charley has participated in every one of those swims, dating back to her time living in Reston. Despite her decades of experience, this year was a first for her.
