Washington Episcopal Earns First in Robotics Competition

Washington Episcopal School’s robotics team, the "Dragonbots," won first place in the presentation category for a creative, imaginative, well-documented, and demonstrated research project at the International First LEGO League state-wide competition at UMBC Retriever Activities Center in Catonsville, Md. on Jan. 28. Seventy-four teams competed. The FLL organized the competition, which hosts around 20,000 teams in over 60 countries.

Forum To Chew on Meals Tax

The League of Women Voters of the Fairfax Area (LWVFA) will sponsor a Meals Tax Forum at the auditorium of Luther Jackson Middle School, 3020 Gallows Road, Falls Church, on Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. The forum will feature panelists on both sides of the issue. The panel will also take written questions from the audience. Questions may also be submitted in advance by writing to league@lwv-fairfax.org.

McLean’s Winter Guard Wins Regional Competition

McLean High School’s Winter Guard took first place in their division at the Atlantic Indoor Association’s Regional Championship last Saturday night at Woodbridge High School. The competition, which closes out the indoor season, pitted McLean’s 12 member team against 15 regional groups.

Assault -- Lee Jackson Memorial Hwy/Lees Corner Road. Feb. 7, 2:40 p.m. An officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver, a 50-year-old female of Clifton. She allegedly became belligerent and fought the officer. She was subsequently charged with assault on police officer, open container and driving while intoxicated.
